Background history:

"Gudrid" is a bitone single bloom, dormant diploid introduced in 2003 by Brian Mahieu, the hybridizer and artist.

Many of Brian Mahieu's daylilies are sold through Bluegrass Gardens:

Informative quote from their website:
Viking series
Mahieu diploid 98-530 J
[ETHEL RUTHRAUFF X (H CITRINA X LOLA BRANHAM)]
48 ML 6.5 NOC VFR EXT DOR, 5 way branching 34 buds trumpet form

This is a beautiful intense violet bitone with a blue chevron watermark. The form is a trumpet viewed from the side, 4.5 inches in length, closure to 3.5 inches. GUDRID has some of the most gorgeous, deep blue green foliage in the garden gracefully arching and ruffled. It is one of the most FRAGRANT daylilies we grow.. Very insect and disease resistant, an excellent grower and clumper. Extremely fertile both ways, with her Patrician lineage GUDRID promises to produce a new dynasty of clear purples with excellent plant habits. The trumpet form is easily overcome by crossing with flat-faced daylilies.

This cultivar is even known in the U.K. The British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society posted this interesting plant profile about Gudrid.:

This cultivar can be found in the ATP Plant Database:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Gudrid')

According to the AHS database, it is listed as a midseason bloomer, that has H. citrina in it's pedigree line. It's listed as tall at 48" with 6.5" blooms.

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more! (I award an acorn for performance information posted on this thread.)

Also, please consider adding a "Local Report" to the ATP Plant Database!!! Thank you!
