I've had them in the past and just stuck them in the ground. I left some of the scape above and below the prolif (mostly to help keep them upright in the ground). They all grew well with no special care other than watering if the weather was unusually dry. I've just seen one in my garden this year. Don't remember which plant. There was one year in the past when there were a lot of them forming. I recall one was Trahlyta and I think Forty-second Street too.
