Hi, Karen, and welcome to ATP.

You, like so many others, have perhaps only been exposed to Phalaenopsis orchids, sold in the big box stores. They typically will have no fragrance. There are actually are some Phal. that are fragrant though. The vast majority of orchids are in fact fragrant, and I have many dozen varieties that are. The Cattleya alliance of orchids are known for fragrance and many other orchid "families" are fragrant as well.
