I totally agree with greene, it's NEVER a good idea to send cash through the mail to family, friends or whoever ... for any reason. If the seller doesn't accept personal checks or doesn't have a PayPal account, Postal Money Orders are the smart way to send funds. I realize that $10.00 is not a fortune but you're still taking a risk in losing that Ten Bucks if it goes missing in transit. The P.O. will not cover the loss of cash sent through the U.S. Mail.
