My Lewisia was happily solitary, having made it through the winter in a small clay pot. About a month ago, I noticed that seeds from a Portulaca that had occupied a neighboring pot from 2014, had taken up residence with the Lewisia, as had a Snapdragon, which I think the birds had lent me. When they bloomed a few days ago, the Portulacas displayed a combination of the solid pink and the pink striped variety. When I got home from work today, the little Snap had proudly opened all orange-sorbet, as well as a golden yellow Portulaca with orange markings. I did a double take & laughed. They will be rewarded for their efforts in their own container as new neighbors to an orange Cuphea & coral Geraniums. The Lewisia will be relieved, as will my eyes...
I have had a number of plants, this year, that were mis-labeled: totally different colour. Aggravating, but humorous.
