I have tree-mailed Trish before starting an article to ask her if my article idea is one that has been done before or one that she thinks would be worth writing about. If she says yes, then I write the article.

I am a bit of a technical writer when I write my articles. I try to be fairly precise, thorough, and show photos to explain what I am talking about. I write it for ....a newbie to the topic... in mind. Trish has the option to edit any articles you write as well. Once they are in the queue to be published (after Trish accepts the article), you can still edit them until they are actually published. The edits have to be approved. Keep in mind that often there is a long queue of articles to be published, so writing them at the last minute to earn acorns for an upcoming raffle might not work out in your favor. I write articles when something comes to mind that I think others might find useful, not for the acorns. Often it is when I am working on a garden project. I have learned to document my projects with step-by-step photographs, just in case I decide to use it for an article later. I actually enjoy writing the articles and giving other gardeners ideas! Most of my articles have been well received, so I must be on the right track in the topics I've chosen. You can look through the large list of articles and see which ones got the most thumbs up to help you determine what topics seem to be popular or see what the writing style is of the author of the articles. Sharon is an amazing writer ... if you haven't read any of her articles, I suggest you do so!

I see all kinds of articles and writing styles that get published here on ATP. Don't be afraid to give it a try. If it doesn't get accept for publishing, then ask Trish why. Her answer many help you get published the next time you write an article.
