Kim - thank you for confirming! That's actually what I told my husband it was, but then convinced myself out of it because I can't recall ever seeing a cicada...I just know a cicada is a big bug that makes noises and that doesn't show up too often. Is there a variety of cicada that only spawns/breeds once every 10 or 14 years or something like that?
By the way, two acorns your way - one for ID'ing my bug, and the other for saving yours! (I'm sure the mother spiders appreciate your hospitality, too
