The problem with some of the very old cultivars is that they simply are not all grown anymore. Some will never be seen again, because for all intents and purposes, some cultivars have surely gone 'extinct' over the years.
Also...not every picture shown in the Oakes catalog (paper and online) are accurate. I noted as least 2 (can't remember them atm, that did not match the AHS database in even one category.) I'm not blaming Oakes for this, but things like this DO happen for a variety of reasons.
