I still have deer tracks and poo in the yard but so far they've stayed out of the veggie garden. I used a granular product that is supposed to keep lots of furry varmits out. So far, so good. I seems to have worked for everything except the squirrels. They haven't eaten anything but tended to dig up baby plants in the beginning.
Last year the deer had a fine old time in the veggie garden. Ate the hot peppers first. The damage looked like that...eaten from the top down with a bit of stem left standing.
