Vermiculite soaks up water so I'm not sure if pouring it through will give it time to do that, but as long as it felt OK.... It's better if the medium is not wet, just damp. The seedlings in my vermiculite picture were a month after sprouting so "Tester" should probably appear within a week or so, just so we don't have to kill you
