This summer we had a lot of strong winds that also lasted unusually long, for over a week at a time.
Now most lilies are okay with that, although a few needed emergency support, but I noticed that my LA lilies (I only grow two, 'Eyeliner' and 'Golden Stone') while having very strong stalks, had a lot of damage to their petals, with many blooms literally blowing to pieces. I didn't notice this in the Asiatics or indeed even in the OT's although we had similar winds later in the summer as well. Also I noticed while dead heading, that 'Eyeliner' was very sensitive to petal damage to fresh blooms as they fell of easily.

Does anyone now if this is a general weakness in the LA's or have had similar experience with them?
