Well Ann , I can't really answer that question , and I am not being a smarty with this ,
I suppose it is similar to a new born ,When they go , they go ,
Or a bunch of Birth fluid coming off in the wing wash , oops maybe it is the caterpillar fluid they no longer need ,and it acts as wing wax , at emerge Confused

That or if someone locked me in a Chrysalis , for two weeks , I would be angry enough to spit myself , now I am being a smarty Whistling Smiling
In the Butterfly garden if a plant is not chewed up I feel like a failure
