The Hawaiian text (Staples, G.W. & Herbst, D.R. 2005. "A Tropical Garden Flora". Bishop Museum Press. Honolulu, HI.) places both plants in the same species, with the variegated plant being a cultivar.
The species being highly variable with different leaf shapes.
How do the inflorescences differ between the two plants?
