2 aspirin, to 1 gallon of water. I did that, a week ,or so, ago......and, it was *supposed* to boost immunity to irwinia (bacterial soft rot)........and, it *may* help with that. BUT yesterday, I found two iris with the fans on the ground! I'm "pretty sure" THIS isn't bacterial soft rot, though ! If the leaves are "nice , healthy green", with no yellowing, or browning near the ends, and if the 'rotted off " area has no "foul odor', and, in fact, smells rather sweet, and "yeasty", and , even though on touching the surface, you find it is "soft and squishy", it LOOKS like it would be dry......it's not the bacterial rot...it's a fungal rot ....botrytis convolua. I won't go into the testing I had done, or the other "trials and tribulations" again.....I did all that , back in the spring, on one of the threads dealing with losses, but......give it a "sniff"....that will tell the tale ! The seemingly unaffected side increases are also 'diagnostic" to botrytis, by the way. If ,in fact, botrytis is the culprit affecting your plants........good luck !! My advice would be to contact your county extension agent, get some testing done, be sure of what you are fighting...........and "hold on", 'cause you are in for a wild ride !!
