Now that I think back on it... many years ago!!... I remember my Mom and an older friend doing a little ritual when June would give my Mom a plant. June would say something like... "this plant would be perfect for you, etc" and she would set it down and walk away. Mom would then pick it up and "hide" it behind her back.
Had something to do with "stealing" the plant??....
