I cannot speak for the coil type hoses but i bought an expandable one last year and it was only pulled across grass not cement. About 2 months ago it burst with a 6 inch gash just back of the nozzle. So i got about a year out of it. Another thing with 1/2 inch OD my water pressure was not very good.
Few years back my father in-law had found a brand new 50ft heavy duty garden hose at garage sale for 3 bucks and he sold it to me and had it in my garage all this time. When expandable went kaput i hauled the heavy one out and water pressure is better.
Do not buy the expandable unless you want a new one every year or so. And do not buy any of those home improvement plastic hose reel carts. They do nothing but leak. Ever notice the grass is greenest under and around your cart? Thats why.
