I can't explain the daylilies and flowering. We had our normal annual rainfall amount by July. The DL's love more water than they normally get around here. We have two gardens with a fence between. Our yard garden and then the garden that was a pasture a few years ago. Most DL's in the yard garden are registered cultivars and most of the others are seedlings. Our registered daylilies just don't perform like our seedlings. I don't know why that is. Even mixed in the same beds, the seedlings have more buds and longer bloom season. I also lost some of my most prized registered DL's. I lost Texas Kaleidoscope and Cosmic Kaleidoscope. Fortunately, I got a thousand or two thousand seeds from their pollen before they died. We are moving plants around in all the beds to see if we can figure anything out. Several of my mini's that I really wanted to use for hybridizing did not bloom this year. Little Blue Angel, Gizmo, Star Child and others did not bloom. It was a great growing year, just not for all the DL's.
