Maybe it's the difference in your climate or soil, Joy. You know how both can often affect the color of daylilies, might be true of the crepe myrtles too. I'm not sure because it's been warm here until the last few days and my Crimson Red was pink for the first day or two but then each bloom turned bright red. Really a nice red.
