Donald that is definitely a flower spike with a bud and the tip is still branching out. Lucky you! Sometimes, my Phals do this growth at this time of the year too, but it is still a long drawn out process. Give it a month and a half and you should have a nice winter bloom show. Good growing!

I don't grow my Phals outdoors though, always indoors. I hesitate to move my Phals when in bud making phase like that, they may pout and blast, but if you do it early on, it will just quickly recover and continue on.
