I can sympathize with everyone else who has had fruit flies in their compost bins. I bought my vermicomposter (Worm Factory 360) thinking I would keep it in the basement because everything said that they aren't smelly and can be kept right in the kitchen, even.

Nooooo waaaay, Jose! Fortunately, I started it in the garage because it quickly attracted fruit flies and the beginning of this summer was particularly bad. Thankfully, a few smart spiders took up residence in and around it and the fruit fly problem is almost obsolete...but that compost bin is staying outside! Maybe scrubbing my fruits and veggies will help a little, though...
