The red ones I saw where at older homes. Some didn't look like they had had much attention paid to them. They've probably been there for years. I think because the bulbs aren't readily available at the big box stores and are expensive when you do find them at a nursery , they are not being being planted in the newer subdivisions. I really enjoy giving some of my heirloom bulbs to interested young gardeners. It makes me think I'm doing my part to keep them going.
