It's registered as an extended bloomer, which means the flowers stay open 16 hours or more. It's also registered as a rebloomer. I don't grow it but perhaps it got its cultivar name because it can bloom in October (in some areas anyway)? Edited to add, it may well have set those scapes before it was shipped, especially if you got it direct from the hybridizer.
