My dh was reading that article to me yesterday, I think it was. I've been telling him how smart the crows are.
They do the same thing here, Margaret, the 'look out' crows perch in the trees near the windows and call to the others, then one by one they will come down to eat at the chicken feeders.
If we so much as move in the house, they know it and fly off or call to the ones on the ground. I think I've told you before, my chickens listen to the crows to know when a hawk is nearby, so I have a fondness of them.
Did I tell you about the time a crow saved one of my chickens? Well a hawk came after one of my chickens, I mean it literally had the poor hen clutched in its talons. It all happened so fast but as soon as I heard all the commotion, I looked up, saw the hawk go after the chicken, I let out my loudest bear roar as I ran towards them; at the same time two crows were cawing, one came down out of the tree and swooped at the hawk. The hawk took off and the crows took off after it. My poor little chickens were so scared, they ran to me as fast as they could with their little wings flapping! The little hen was saved.
The next week we got our rooster.
