You ask two very good questions. I do not have the answers to either. I will say this: We have seen a dramatic culture shift in this country during my lifetime! Personally, I feel the shame lies in
failure to work for one's livelihood. Some of the 'richest' people I have known were 'poor' by today's standards. I guess it depends on how someone might define those two terms.
