Zuzu - I began planting mums and aster several years ago. Many of the local garden nurseries would have them available in the Fall. Each year I would buy and plant them as I was told they were "winter hardy" and each year they would die of over the winter - never to be seen again. It wasn't until 2 years ago that I came across an article that mentioned in my zone you have to buy & plant them in the Spring. Apparently, they take a long time to take root. Duh. Now I have a multitude of mums and asters. They look very pretty in a vase and last a long time.
Lyn and Porkpal - thank you for the compliment - Canon deserves some credit too!
DogsNDaylilies - The temps dropped down into the 30's for 2 days and now they up into the 40 - 60's - go figure.
