When you say that the standards and falls are flat, are you meaning that they are without ruffles? Generally speaking, unruffled Irises are older cultivars, referred to as historics, since today's hybridizers generally try to create ruffled blooms. When searching for the identity of an Iris, it does help to know the approximate time of creation.

I couldn't increase the size of the second picture, so can't see the distortion that you're referring to. Again -- this looks like an historic. You could do a search in the database for Red Bitone historics. If that didn't work, try Burgundy Bitone, etc., etc. -- sooner or later you *should* find something that at least looks like your Iris. And, of course, there's no guarantee that your Iris was ever named or registered. There are a lot of real NOID Irises out there, for many reasons -- people who hybridize for fun with no intention of registration, bee-pod babies, etc.
Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com)
