Yes there are many ways to over winter them. The article was just a generalisation. They are in fact a lot tougher than people think. Mine are just kept in a Block in carport with no heat at all. As long as it works, that's all that matters. By the way I'm bringing out a new release next year called "My Mary-Ann". After one of my Grand daughters.
