Yes, bidding can get it cheaper for you. Now here's the deal. If you bid on one item that expires in 1 day and bid on another that expires in 2 days, just let the seller (thru Contact Seller or Ask A Question buttons) know that you are bidding on another item and they will wait for the second auction to expire. Assuming you win both, they will combine the auctions, apply the discount and send you one invoice.
