Different species of Hawthorn are grown throughout the world...this one is native to Delaware, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the berries have been used to treat heart problems since at least the 1st century.
Even today, testing continues regarding medical use.
This particular shot was taken on the grounds near our Bristol. Pa. Township Building---2501 Bath Road, Bristol, Pa. 19007, and shows the fruit (haw).
