David, I guess that will be the difference, the temperature around the plant and amount of light when grown indoors. I do not know if Thea's garage is heated. In my area, our garage is not heated so it is very cold., but at least much better than leaving the plant outdoors.

I think it has to be kept at or around 60F and higher with enough light for it to keep the leaves, otherwise, it will eventually drop them and sleep.
