When I lived in Houston I did get the morning glories and moon vines growing together on a pergola and they were lovely. Once I discovered the blooming habits of the Alamo vine, I had moved elsewhere(no pergola), but thought it would be a perfect addition to the vining combo. The mini pergola planter box is great--maybe something even a "hammerthumb" could manage! It wouldn't be too hard to tell the difference between the seed pods of these plants as they are each a little different in size and shape, as are the leaves. I recently acquired an Alamo vine plant. It hasn't bloomed, but the foliage is distinctive. I'll take a picture of it and try to post it in the database in the next couple of days. To PAgirl--you may be lucky the cypress vine didn't sprout! In the warmer climate here, it can be peskily invasive, freely self-seeding and hard to contain. The hummingbirds like it, though, so I take the good with the bad. I enjoyed everyone's comments.
