David what I've done with mine, finally, is put the whole potted plant in a container that doesn't have drainage. I put a few pebbles in the bottom and keep it filled with water, until it gets a bit cold (like now) I still water it, just not to the same degree. I don't have this particular plant but I've been treating all my gesnariads in this way and they seem to like it!
