Hi Annie,..i have never heard or read of anyone doing this,.. which is beyond me,..my father used to do this and it worked,..not that he was always happy with the rose bloom that resulted,..sometimes no roses appeared at all.

Expert Rose Growers wouldn't use this method as its all down to chance,..then its also down to chance how the rose growers do it,..not forgetting it takes about 4 months before a rose hip is mature then going through the process of washing the seeds,..storing them in a paper towel with a spray of peroxide,.. within a plastic bag in a fridge for several weeks,..all before you plant the seeds.
