I Would Rather :
.....Be picking berries than bugs
the Japanese beetles are hitting my plants hard this year .My dear husband took down the wild grape on the fence line I use as a bait plant. So every morning I pick beetles off the sweet peas ,blackberries and Four O clocks look what they have done to my flowers
...........Be picking flowers than pulling weeds
.........Be sipping tea in the shade than watering in the heat...
right now watering is a daily chore , we have slipped into drought conditions this week and I dearly want cucumbers , tomatoes and beans
wouldn't be summer with out them
Summer arrived this week no rain and lots of heat ...........so that means watering daily
Removed the tarp from an area in the pasture project to find dry cracked soil . I had to use the pick hoe to get a hole for planting. I am spoiled by the good amended soil in the main garden,
Those natives are going to have to be very hardy in soil like that.
several new blooms
and a new daylily or two every day.
The Master gardeners sponsor a stroll each year.I took a few photos and found a few ideas.
this gardener liked blue
not flowers but I like the concept. I would have added glass bubbles on the fence above the fish
there were large mirrors
something I have not seed before
a fairy garden
This front yard was filled with flowers and the back all raised bed vegetable garden.
this place had a tree house and pond with waterfall
and some ideas
a small herb bed
I always have wrens in the garden , they eat an incredible amount of insects. Sometimes they follow me around when I am weeding to find fresh food.
this year they chose the house near the hammock , so no peaceful rests in the hammock.
Today the little ones took there flight
They are having a bad first day out: It was 90 degrees by 12:30 and then a thunder storm with heavy rain (over an inch an hour) strong winds and a drop in temperature to 71 .
I think they may be rethinking the outside world.
This week has been very busy AND I picked up my bees
Trying to finish all spring chores and summer has arrived dry no rain this week so I am watering everyday.
Picking and eating :broccoli ,salad turnips, strawberries, and cucumbers (from the greenhouse).
It appears that I can grow cucumbers inside my small greenhouse and get an early crop .I did not have to hand pollinate but I did have to water everyday.
Plenty of new blooms
the june berry has ripe berries , so far the birds are sharing with me but I know any day I will go out and they will have hogged all the ripe ones
there has been daily fights over the mulberry and it isn't even ripe yet
aah Summer is here
