grass in daylilies and semp seeds
Posted on Jun 26, 2012 5:38 PM

Pulled a whole trash bag of grass out of the big daylily bed today in 104* heat.  Drank lots of water and took lots of indoor breaks.  Feel somewhat accomplished.  Yard needs weedeating and that danged tree branch needs chainsawing.  Ricks gotta do that since my arm is messed up.

Semp Hurricane is indeed blooming with no new rosettes and the one I did surgery on dried up despite watering some.......bummer.  I am sure I will lose more in this heat.  Careful to water after the afternoon shade hits.  Some of the ones in the fire pit look a bit fried.  Don't know whether I am watering too little or too much.  Rick cut me a circle to put on the back of the dome screen.  Think I will wait til fall to do that though.  Keep all the babies in the shade through the summer.   Oh,  the semp seeds I started are coming up.  Teeny tiny babies, bout a 100 or so of them.  Just specks really, but what did I expect with those microscopic seeds!  I am proud.  Hope I can keep them alive.

Potting up and daylily seeds
Posted on Jun 22, 2012 5:07 PM

Up potted the heuchera, shasta daisy, & astilbe and still have them in the shade to settle into their new pots.

Put some leftover daylily seeds to soak.  We will see if I get anything out of them.  Also started some I got this week.  More hope for them.=)  Oh and got my first daylily seed of the year from my seedlings.  Whoo hoo.  One seed.

Only 86* today instead of the predicted 98* so that was good.

Elbow still hurts and is showing no signs of getting better.  Doing my PT excercises.  150 reps though, not 15 minutes.  Can't do 15 minutes!  I can get 50 reps at a time out of the old arm.

Planted a Queensland Blue Pumpkin last night.  Out back in a big container.  Must remember to water daily.  I've been doing a pretty good job so far.  The skeeters are a big  bummer though.  I'd do okay if they weren't at me so much.  Note.....use skeeter repellant.  Duh.

Semp seeds
Posted on Jun 20, 2012 8:12 PM

Started appx 300 semp seeds in a 5X7 tray.  Seeds are from Parks.  2/3 seed starting mix and 1/3 pea gravel.  Hope I get a few out of it.  Keeping fingers crossed.

Otherwise did very little today.  Elbow hurt and it was hot.  Lazy.

Planting Semps

Planted pots and all from sandnsea2.2012-06-20/keyi/07db0d2012-06-20/keyi/0e956f

Watered some.  Took pics some.  Moved 2 clematis pots to the mailbox area to fill in now that most of those daylilies are done.  Saw a new scape coming up on one though.  Yeay.  Need to buy more soil and another big pot or two.  Swapped position on the Black Prince Tomato and the blue ceramic pot so that the blue one is in front.  Looks better and now it can get some sun.  Arm is feeling okay but I haven't done my PT.....

Got a ton of books from Jim, Diane's hubby.  Sci-fi/fantasy types with a few horror thrown in.  Passed on several boxes I'd have loved to put up on Bookswap but didn't want to be greedy.....;)

Planting Semps & Ortho Dr.
Posted on Jun 18, 2012 5:07 PM

Moved 4 pots of semps from sandnsea2 into a planter by the front door.  They should get enough sun there and I can remember to water them too!  Still have many to plant but want to put em in the dome.  Hoping for a cool day to do it.  Wishful thinking this time of year.  Maybe just before a rain.

Went to the Ortho Dr today.  My pain is just tennis elbow/tendonitis.  Have to to PT at home - wrist curls, which really really hurt a lot.  And wear a little brace and take Mobic.  Back in a month if it's not better.

......later on that night

OUCH.  The brace makes it hurt more and the exercises had me in tears and in so much pain that I had to take a 2 hour nap to be able to see straight!
