sr - 2023 In flower from Apr to May, and the seeds ripen from Sep to Oct. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant)The plant is not self-fertile. Akebia prefers sandy soils with good drainage, and regular watering, though it is drought-resistant. Germination: Lightly scarify seeds with a nail file, and soak in warm water for 24 hours. Surface sow seeds in a pot, mist the soil and sprinkle a small amount of sand or seed-starting soil over the seeds. soak seed for 24hrs then place in moist peat or sand, in a polythene bag, not sealed, in the fridge for about 6 weeks. Sow in pots, but don't cover the seed, since they need light to germinate. Keep warm. Ideal Sowing Period: Spring, if using a fridge, late autumn if using natural stratification. Zones 4 through 9. |

Scottish heirloom leek was introduced in the 1830s near Edinburgh, Scotland with a delicious, sweet, subtle onion flavor. Very winter-hardy plants with blue-green white stalks 7-10" long and 1 1/2" in diameter. You can plant leeks as early as two weeks before your last-expected spring frost. Here in New York's Hudson Valley (zone 5-b), I plant leek seedlings between late April and mid-May. Maturity: 120 days. |

MIG - 2023 - 4 Plants 1-year-old crowns 2023. Beautiful purple plants that turn green when cooked. Tender if eaten fresh or cooked. The plants are cold hardy to zone 3 to zone 9. These crowns are mature and ready to grow the moment you plant them. Wondering how much to grow? Established asparagus plants produce about 1/2lb. of spears per bed foot in spring/early summer. If you are getting asparagus established for the first time, we recommend 5-10 crowns per person. (covers 15-30 row feet) As soon as you get these plants, they must be planted. fertilize with a well-balanced fertilizer and water well. Bury the entire crown so that the tip of the crown is around 2 inches below the soil level. This will protect the crown from any cold weather. Do not harvest the first year. Let plants become established before harvesting. Zones 2-9. |
