Got this as part of a package with Banja Luka tulips at Costco to balance out the later bloomers with these midspring blooms. Great price for 50 tulips. This is a newer cultivar. Seed obtained in seed swap. Needs 60 days stratification, so will plant in Dec - Jan 2022, 23. Adding to pollinator and natives garden. Grows wild and tallest in moist soil, tolerates some flooding, grows fine in average garden soils. Cut back stems in late spring to control height. Self-seeds. Vernonia missurica is best distinguished from other ironweeds by the usually greater number of disk florets per flower and by the hairy stems and leaf undersides.
