Lovely old (1910) rambler rose; semi-double cream to pure white with a fruity fragrance that carries on the air; Most list it as capable of growing to 20 feet with no rebloom, but ours has rebloomed in the fall after I pruned it when it finished the spring bloom, probably because of our warmer climate. The foliage is very glossy and here it has a little blackspot but not enough to cause problems. We love this rose, a real winner and asset to our property.

Lovely semi-double with matching lovely fragrance.

Don't discount this small flowered rose. It is a wonderful bloomer and the fragrance is marvelous and floats on the air--love this rose!!

China rose capable of becoming a very large bush. Major bloom time is usually April/May here with some rebloom in summer and a nice flush of bloom in the fall. One of the few roses we grow unprotected, and so far it has not been browsed by the deer, which is amazing. I would hate to have to put a fence around this one.

We start our seeds in late April and usually expect to see blooms beginning in August. Our moonflowers are planted inside electric fences because the deer here will eat them, even though it's supposed to be a "deer resistant" plant. This is such a beautiful flower in bloom with marvelous fragrance, and it is fun to watch their pollinators, the big night hawk moths that look like hummingbirds.

First year in our garden, a bonus plant. Sender was honest, saying it is probably a hybridizer's plant, doesn't have a high bud count. First blooms were blotchy, but settled down by the time this photo was taken. It is a beautiful color with the velvety or felted texture. Hope it is better in its second year here.

Rather a different sort of rose for us. This one arches and the roses are in clusters that bloom almost down to the center of the plant. It does have a lovely fragrance, and many people comment that they think the flowers are like apple blossoms. Also, this one is a good cut flower, and it has been used in wedding flowers for friends.

Gorgeous rose in full bloom with sweet fragrance. This one just knocks me out when I see it!!

[ Rose (Rosa 'Kronprinzessin Viktoria') | Posted on September 4, 2012 ]

A truly beautiful white rose. My photos show that it sometimes has a tendency to have a light yellow shading, and this can disappear as the flower ages. We have three bushes of this rose, and all of them stay rather small and compact.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Belinda's Dream') | Posted on September 4, 2012 ]

One of our best roses. Beautiful, perfectly shaped flowers are the norm--love this one!!!

[ Rose (Rosa 'Devoniensis') | Posted on September 4, 2012 ]

My favorite rose, which needs a different location or climate to do well in our garden. This is the bush form, and it has always been small and scraggly. The bush notwithstanding, this rose is one I would hate to do without. I love the fragrance, which, to my nose, is quite different from what would be called the typical rose fragrance.

Fabulous true blue color of flowers, and does very well in a difficult position---lots of heat caused by concrete walkways and south side of house. We must water regularly to keep plant going, but in cooler weather, does just fine.

Another new one I did not see in person this year, so it will be like a Christmas present in June when it blooms in 2013.

Brand new in our garden this year. Did not get to see it in bloom (out of state, photo taken by my husband) so will be looking forward to seeing it in person next year.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Smoky Mountain Autumn') | Posted on September 2, 2012 ]

NOID in our garden for several years, just found out the true name this year. Lovely daylily, beautiful blending colors.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Wild Horses') | Posted on September 2, 2012 ]

Three years in our garden, disappointing because of slow growth and few scapes. Too bad, a very dramatic flower in bloom.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Siloam Double Classic') | Posted on August 25, 2012 ]

Lovely short double, one of our favorites.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Hot Ember') | Posted on August 24, 2012 ]

Very bright color, easily seen in the garden

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mystical Rainbow') | Posted on August 24, 2012 ]

First season in our garden, and we love it. It has bloomed very well.
