[ Coneflower (Echinacea 'Cheyenne Spirit') | Posted on June 24, 2013 ]

I have been very impressed with Cheyenne Spirit. I've been growing both the red and the yellow since 2012, and they are without a doubt, the most vigorous Echinacea plants I own. Cheyenne Spirit is the first to leaf out the and the first to bloom. In my garden, the red is a shorter plant than the yellow, but both are great. These plants have lots of blooms with wonderful vibrant color that can be seen from a distance. They bloom a long time too. This variety is really noteworthy in all its characteristics. Highly recommended!

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Fringe of Gold') | Posted on May 21, 2013 ]

Schreiner's Garden notes 'Fringe of Gold' has 5-6 blooms.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Victoria Falls') | Posted on May 21, 2013 ]

This one is nicknamed 'Victoria Falls Down' because most of the stalks flop over. It is still an iris I like to keep because it has a lovely fragrance & so many flowers. I consider it a cutting iris & bring the stalks that flop inside. They are absolutely delightful as they lightly perfume a room. The flowers open a darker periwinkle color & lighten as they age.

Schreiner's Garden lists this as having three main branches and two spurs with up to 14 flowers. It is reported to have a tendency to rebloom. Various members of my family have grown this variety many years, but it has not rebloomed for us in zone 6b.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Dynamite') | Posted on May 14, 2013 ]

Beautiful, huge red flower. It took mine several years to establish itself & bloom, but it was worth the wait.
Schreiner's Garden lists this as a 4 1/4" x 6 3/4" flower with four-branched stems bearing 8-10 flowers.

[ Shooting Star (Dodecatheon meadia 'Alba') | Posted on May 13, 2013 ]

Every Mid-April to May I am delighted by this flower. It blooms for about a month & has a heavenly fragrance. Sometimes I think it smells lightly of grape soda & other times I think it smells like a fine soap. It's my favorite spring wildflower.

Even though this is a deer resistant plant, we have a large local deer population & they have eaten the flowers off of some of our shooting stars.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Evening Tidings') | Posted on May 13, 2013 ]

Nice tall iris that doesn't flop over. Beautifully saturated falls, they absolutely glow. This one of my favorite iris!
Schreiner's Garden lists this as having three branches with 8-9 flowers.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'About Town') | Posted on May 13, 2013 ]

Beautiful vibrant purple falls. It is fantastically tall & doesn't flop over.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Dawn Eternal') | Posted on May 7, 2013 ]

Schreiner's Garden notes that these flowers are very large and there are 10 per stalk.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Rosy Returns') | Posted on March 5, 2013 ]

Rosy Returns seems to have the best color when provided with full sun. When I grew this plant in partial shade it had a less saturated bloom color & wasn't very pretty in my opinion. I moved it, and in its new location it gets 10 hours of sun. The color is now much more saturated & pleasing to the eye. It also blooms a really long time in my garden, sometimes until frost.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Edgefield Glow') | Posted on March 5, 2013 ]

Edgefield Glow bloomed with 8 double socketed buds its first year in my garden. The serpentine shape of the stem is graceful & interesting. The flowers are a beautiful orange, medium in tone & moderately strong in saturation - much like a ripe navel orange. This one can be seen from a distance & it glows in my garden, even on the cloudiest of days. One of my favorites.
