Neoregelia 'Martin' (pronounced marteen) was selected (1991) by Chester Skotak Jr as a flowering plant from the progeny of his cross of (carolinae lineata X concentrica) X macwilliamsii.

Androlepis skinneri is native to Central America and southern Mexico. It is a popular large-growing terrestrial Bromeliad that can be grown in full sun conditions, where it will produce a intense red color. This is one of the few dioecious Bromeliads.

Neoregelia compacta is a stoloniferous species of Bromeliad endemic to Brazil.
The 14"-17" spineless lush green rosette blushes a bright red towards the central cup as it comes into flowering.
Offsets are produced 3"-4" stolons
making it work well where a large grouping is desired. A good climbing species also works well on trees or rocks.
Performs well in part sun conditions.

This plant is known only as 'Eleanor Roosevelt' by Croton collectors and the 'Sloppy Painter' name is frowned on. The 'Sloppy Painter' name was stuck on this plant by nursery tradesmen at a later time. This Croton is a hybrid by Henry Coppinger . 'Eleanor Roosevelt', 'Franklin Roosevelt', 'Johanna Coppinger', 'Golden Glow' and 'Miami Beauty' all came from the same seed cluster.
