Extremely long flowering period.

Named after one of Walter Pennell's daughters in 1974. Parentage: 'Beauty of Worcester' x 'Marie Boisselot'.

This was the first cultivar to be bred in the former Soviet Union using a chemical (ethylenimine) to produce new plants. Zagadka means 'Enigma'.

Flowers have a wide bar that is white at the base, feathered towards the tips with purple-violet veins, and with wide, purple-violet upper margins and tips. Outside of flowers have a purple bar shading to very pale purple margins.

Needs shelter from cold winds. Foliage is leathery and bronze when young. Toxic to animals, especially dogs.

Flowers are purple-violet inside, shiny purple outside, with paler colored margin. While in full flower, the tepals curl slightly inwards but later spread open more. The buds are shiny red-purple.

Gorgeous clematis! Cross between C. florida and C. integrifolia. The large white flowers have a blue-purple central stripe speckled with white. The stems are purple when young and turn red-purple. Leaves are also purple when young.

Name comes from two Japanese words: 'Happiness' is Fuku and 'Garden' is Zono.

Flowers are ball shaped, resembling a dahlia.

Flowers are double in May and June and single from July through September. Sport of 'Jackmanii alba', but the flowers are bluer. Early flowers have streaks of pure gold on the basal petals. The leaves are golden yellow, sometimes showing a red margin and young stems are red. This is the only large flowered clematis with gold foliage.
