This clematis is actually listed as being hardy to zone 1. Will fade in hot sun.

Ispahanica types have two colors of flowers on the same plant. On this clematis, which is the second type resulting from experimental mutagenic procedures, one flower is pale yellow with yellow stamens and the other is lilac with lilac filaments. Zvezdograd means City of Stars.

Very deep color of yellow, unlike most yellow clematis that are pale yellow. Thick, fleshy tepals. Unusual flower shape. Named for the raiser's grandchildren 'Iris' and 'Evi'.

Swedish legend sometimes refers to this clematis as 'The Robber's Clematis' due to the fact that Harry Smith was mugged on his expedition to China to collect this plant. The robber left him with 'only his seeds and his life'.

The outside of tepals is red/purple, inside is white, but the red/purple color shows through tepals. When first opened the flower is shaped like a texensis, but then it opens into a flat flower.
