Another month, another raffle! This being spring, we have a GREAT lineup of awesome prizes from some of the best companies out there. We also have a new tool being provided as a prize!
Well I've been a member for four years and poke around the site regularly and just today read my first and only message from a nice lady welcoming me to the site (thanks Lin:)) I thanked her personally and said I think I was going to try and be more active in the community and then saw someone on their first day on the site ask for acorn donation in the forums so I thought I'd see if anyone could maybe help me see what these raffles are about after 4 years of loyal membership as well as recruiting my girlfriend into the community:) if anyone helps me out thank you so much if not that's okay to I live at an arboretum so it's all good!!!
Thanks
Sean

Hey there Sean, I hope you do find time to poke around the site and join in on all the fun of discussions and sharing information and photos of the plants that you enjoy growing! You can read all about Acorns (how we earn them and spend them) on this page: https://garden.org/special/aco...

Sean the rules of the raffles are explained there in.
In regards to acorn that is the currency we use to buy tickets for the raffle. There are many ways that you can get acorns. The easiest ( which should work in your favor) is to post pictures of plants, trees, bulbs and the like with it's proper name to the database. Other ways are fellow gardeners liking your comments or pictures and gifting you an acorn or more. You can also win acorn prizes in the raffle as well. Looking forward to you sharing pictures from where you work. It should be exciting.
If you need help in identifying any plants that may not be labeled, just start a new thread and post photos and ask here on the Plant Identification Forum: https://garden.org/forums/view...

I just tossed you some acorns, no strings attached. Squirrel them away, use them to 'buy' badges and / or NARR tickets. Or save some to throw at someone else.
You live at an arboretum? Seriously? Whereabouts? In Texas, per chance? Accept day visitors? No worries. Just envious.
Do start playing in the forums. I'm sure you'll have a lot to contribute!
Yes, that is in Washington. I used to live close by the arboretum. It is a lovely place to visit. We did the memorial service for my dad there in 1996. I am sure it is quite different now, even better.
Nice to meet you SowbigGrowbig. Hope to see you around the threads.

Being a loyal member here is more than just joining a site, it usually means participating; posting in the forums, adding details and photos to a database entry, answering questions other members pose, being active! Just think of all the things you, working in an arboretum, could have shared here in the last 4 years.
Yes Washington and since I've only been at the arboretum since the middle of last summer not four years you guys haven't missed out on much from me but hope to contribute more this season....loyal doesn't have to be active participation on the site...I've gained and passed on a lot of info from here so I would say loyal is fitting but to each his own I'm just grateful I can enter a raffle;) thx for the help guys and I'll see what things I can share and pass on to the site....thanks again!!:)pic is taken from my backyard toward the end of last summer
Thank-you for that picture. I need to check my plant for seeds. My hubby said there was seeds on it and odd as it seems these grow good from seed. Someone gave me some and I'm like "right, big bushes like that, I thought I'd rather just buy plants at the local nursery. But the seeds germinated great and I got 4 bushes that bloomed the first year, wow.
