I have these 2 blooming today:

Radical Raspberry Curls: The stats are on mine this year is bizzare - 10" scape height with an 11" bloom. The bloom is actually larger than the scape is tall. Hilarious! Hilarious!
The bloom I love, it is bold, colorful, and large. But the scape makes it bloom down in the foliage. It is supposed to have closer to a 36" scape, so what happened? I have no idea!

Thumb of 2019-06-01/beckygardener/1cdbd0

And Gleber's Top Cream. This is a short scape cultivar. This is the only polychrome that I have and I love, love, love it! I do have some polychrome seedlings I won on the LA, but none are bloom size yet. This has been a tough plant and survived many a harsh, dry, and hot summer/fall here in central Florida.

I wonder if the dry conditions affected scape height? They are both gorgeous!

Jill and Stan - Your blooms are gorgeous! Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

What concerns me, is if Global Warming continues to happen, then it becomes warmer/hotter everywhere around the world. So will my location become like the equator heat or hotter soon? If that is the case, I wonder how many of my plants will survive. Climate change may reshape everyone's gardens in the future. Confused Crying

All of you have posted lovely blooms to start a new month. Here are today's blooms, just a few FFOS and one FFE:

Rocket Booster-FFE-arrived last fall as a bonus plant--planted in a shady place and appears to do just fine.

Westbourne Mom's Cinnamon Rolls--a favorite WB.
Thumb of 2019-06-01/Avedon/f4bb34
Thundercat--another favorite

Topguns Aztec Vision--really put on a show today--it's in a new place and seems to be doing so much better. This is the fourth move, so hope it is finally happy.

Green Derby--this color is kind of strange, but the flower really does have a mostly green cast to it.

What fertilizer would you recommend ….I usually put one tablespoon
of 10 10 10 granular digging in around each daylily hill on March lst.
I do not fertilize any more the rest of the year...its way too hot to
do so here in lower zone 8 ..today is 98 and heat index over 100..Two
weeks of this and unusually hot May and June lst.

This year the it appears the fertilizer burnt some of the leaves
of my perennials and the daylilys have not done well this year
due to warm feb and freezes in March a couple of times?
other wise thrips or aphids..I sprayed them with soapy water
diluted well when I saw aphids in April once...this year.

I have used slow release fertilizer in the past and not much success
with that..I would dig down months later and it was sitting in the ground
and to me appeared to not have dissolved even on a good rainy year
and me hand watering the daylilys..

Milogranite
applying it once around each daylily hill on March lst will that
be enough to help them produce large and pretty blooms?

It it safe to fertilize with it in real hot weather a second fertilizing around each hill
in June?

How much would you scratch in around each daylily hill?

What would be affordable for daylilys?

thinking of the physical part also of hand digging fertilizer around each hill with nerve damage in both hands and elbows..and health...
trying to do the best but prefer just doing it March lst ..

thank you

@shive1 your stenciled Infusion looks a lot better than mine, this is it's first year blooming so that may be the issue but the pollen is very pale yellow on mine also. do you recall if the pollen on yours is golden or pale yellow?

Thanks Deb I was afraid to use the pollen thinking it was no good the first 2 blooms. I should get about 20 more blooms from it so I'll be sure to try it's pollen now that I know.

Becky, if I remember right my Radical Raspberry Curls would sometimes have some short scapes. Don't think they ever got to 36" but were usually well above the foliage.

So many lovely ones already. Another week and they should be starting here in zone 5.

Sheri, I feel your pain in dealing with the heat of Zone 8B in my case. A lot of folks here in FL use Nutricote 16-6-8 slow release. Others use Osmocote Plus which is a 15-9-12 ratio slow release with minors.

I've used Osmocote and never had an issue burning the foliage of any of my plants. As for the undisolved portions of the slow release, it may be that you are seeing, the coating the fertilizer itself. I have these little bb looking parts left over. Usually yellowish in color, but they're only the empty polymer.

Price, Nutricote is $$$ per pound and Osmocote is $ per pound. If memory serves me right, application rate is around a tablespoon around each clump. You can use a three tonged garden tool to scratch into the surface of the soil. Some, just sprinkle around the Daylily itself.

Hope this helps with some of your questions.

This one is supposed to Panama Rose, but not sure if PR has ever show any bitone traits. The sepals look like the color is faded out so it could be a nutrient deficiency.
