Daylily (Hemerocallis 'War Horse')

The DW and I picked up WH this past season as a 5 or 6 fan potted clump.

It is too early to judge performance here, but the scapes were definitely not 45". Time will tell if this one grows into its registered marks as it gets used to the new location. Still, I am happy to have this one in my Native American Heritage Bed and will come back and provide update next season. If I can remember to.

I absolutely love this DL! Got it last year (2018) and it sent up two scapes that were loaded with blooms in it's first year The scapes were about 24 inches tall, and the blooms are stunning! This year the scapes are much taller, but I don't know the measurement. (Don't think I'd measure it properly anyway) I got WH bc of its extended bloom, and it was one of the very last to bloom in the gardens. No disappointment here!

I just got this in the spring and it has several buds on it getting ready to bloom. Can't wait!

I bought this plant in the spring of 2018, because I did not immediately have a place in the garden I decided to plant it in a pot.
It was a triple fan.
War Horse did very well the first summer and rewarded me with two scapes.
He survived the winter very well, I just left the pot unprotected outside.
This spring it was one of the few plants that had no symptoms of spring sickness, I actually didn't expect any special performance from this plant because it was potted.
To my great surprise, he started to grow enormously and sent 8 scapes up to a height of 52 inches.
Branching was super as you can see on the pictures.
I think this is a very strong plant with good plant characteristics such as branching and bud count.
The three fans have now become ten.
I intend to plant War Horse in the garden after the flowering period, I am curious if he will grow even bigger in a lot of good soil.
In my opinion : James Gossard has introduced a very strong variety with this plant.

I planted War Horse last May, 2022. No flowers but it ended the season with three fans in October and no rust, despite being surrounded by it.

You will not be disappointed with this daylily in terms of vigor and health, the foliage is always beautiful green even until very deep in autumn.
I've never seen any rust on the leaves here either.

I planted War Horse in either late 2017 or early 2018. My first blooms came in July of 2018. It is prolific here in NE Ohio! It has been moved around twice, and it has not missed a beat! I highly recommend this beauty!!

2023 update…everyone was right! I love this plant! Bud building, height, late flowering…what's not to love? Beautiful huge red blooms on a super strong plant. This summer, my War Horse bloomed from July 2- August 20 with at least 26 blooms counted. Then it rebloomed from September 10- October 19 with 11 more flowers. It was still going strong with at least four more buds when bunnies chewed down the scape.
