Just wanted to point out my pride and joy, the sinningia helleri. It was once thought extinct, but a small patch was found about to be demolished for construction. They scrambled to save it and are working to restore it, as well as offer gardeners the chance to cultivate it. It makes a GREAT houseplant!

I'll be continuing to try to harvest more seeds throughout the rest of this month so we'll see how many more I can offer. It's my favorite house plant. I've populated the database page with photos and info if you want to have a look see!

And do carry on, having general chat about the seeds you're offering. This is usually the most fun part for me, hyping up my seeds. Big Grin

Good thread idea, Julie. Smiling
For those who want to try Hardy Hibiscus, I just visited a former neighbor's yesterday, and saw their Luna Rose × Luna Rose seedlings from this year. Three made nice little plants, but one grew to almost full (compact Luna)size and had blooms all summer in its first year. It was still covered with frost damage blooms yesterday. The Luna seedlings crossed with tall dark-leaved cultivars have grown out some nice dark-leaved compact plants for me.
The Summer In Paradise (SIP) seedlings have had big pink or white blooms with excellent form, even when the other parent's form wasn't as good. The seeds from those are last year's, but DH's herbicide drift almost killed SIP this year, so there's no new seed. They are good to Zone 4a, and can take heat, also.

I have a refrigerator full of seeds, but the main ones I know are still viable are my super plentiful waltham broccoli. Accidentally let some bloom and my bees made sure they were pollinated.

I don't know whether I will join the swap though. Does anyone need broccoli seed?

Prepper,
If it's the heirloom version, I would be interested. You might also find a market for some of your older seeds, just be sure to list the harvest year and any subsequent information in the comments section of your post. People who dib on your items will take that into consideration when they make their decisions.

I just revised one of my four O clock listings. My original seeds were for limelight but it seems to have lost the bright green leaf color...that said, if you are looking for a fragrant flower this is it. It is heavenly Lovey dubby I had it on the side of my house and could smell it on the second floor through the bedroom window.

@Prepper,
I joined this swap a couple of years ago with only a couple of different kinds of seeds. First time swappers aren't expected to have piles of seeds yet.
Join us, please. Smiling
Feel free to list older seeds as long as you put the year in the comments. Tomato seeds maintain viability a long time. Lettuce seeds don't usually last much over a year. You may be able to run a little germination test on a few of your seeds in the next couple of weeks, or find some info on the internet on expected viability, before deciding what to list.

For seeds that don't need cold treatment and don't have very specific light requirements (like needing absolute dark) or just aren't that picky, you can figure out if they'll geminate pretty quickly by using a microgreens sprouting tray and following the directions you'd normally use to sprout your greens for eating. I like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw...

Very easy to rinse and fill and gives the seeds enough moisture without drowning them.

first things first, I'm developing a parasitic treatment for a fish disease that's been "flush them" and in the last couple of weeks of trials.

Broccoli seed I've not had a problem, I refrigerate all my seeds, but it's probably not an heirloom, I think I had Waltham from Annie's planted before the bees got busy. When do I have to decide by

Hey everyone! It's been a tough year with the bugs demolishing quite a few crops I had this year. That's been twice in a row they've got me, Thumbs down so I've made the tough decision to transition away from crops and do ornamentals. So I'll be thinning through my stash. I'll of course be saving a few to maybe attempt one last time Rolling my eyes. but hopefully someone else can grow and enjoy them as they're supposed to be.
