I HATE the fall back change!! Wish we'd stay with daylight savings time. I have already changed my clocks/timers except the one staring me in the face and the t-stat on the HAVAC...have found that for me it's not as big a disruption to my bio clock that way...kinda sneaks up on me that way instead of kaboom in the morning. Lol I want my hour of light back tomorrow afternoon๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜ก

I hate daylight savings time period; but as far as the general population goes a sucker is born every minute. Whistling

Article in our newspaper yesterday, some science people who studied its effect are trying to eliminate it. Whistling
Findings say it does more harm that good.
Some dweebs, in Minn., want to make it permanent, wow, kids standing out side in 0 or fewer degrees weather waiting for the bus, in total dark for months in winter -- BRILLIANT!
Sun would rise here at 9:00 A.M. and up on the border 20 minutes later. Rolling on the floor laughing

Here, even after the time change, kids are catching the bus in the cold and dark in the mornings anyway. An hour either way makes no difference .

I grew up in Pittsburgh, where winters were plenty cold and snowy. I went to a Catholic school which had no school buses. I either walked to school (a mile) in the dark, or took a public streetcar. My parents had to pay for it. Unless the snow was feet deep, we walked most of the time. It was fun. We had snowball fights. We'd meet up with friends. When I was older and involved in after school activities, I often walked home in the dark too. I have survived to be 67. Shrug!

Today's kids are snowflakes, and I love daylight savings time.

Karen

Until I went to a school, then outside of city limits, miles from my house, I walked to school most of the time from First to Third grade.
Pittsburgh record low is only -22.
Now that is cold but that is where truly deadly cold only starts, I have worked in that area of cold.
I have also been out walking in in temps below minus 30, 40 and 50.
You CAN tell the difference, especially below -40.
An hour out in any thing under -30 is a world different from -20; been there done that.

I agree though kids are now snowflakes due to being parented by ignorant dweebs. I tip my hat to you.

Instead of derailing the jokes discussion...

@Pirl @BigBill did your states do something to put a stop to this?

I really don't mind the time changes at all, neither fall nor spring. I'm retired now so not having to get up at a certain time daily, but I never minded it when in school or working. I never had to leave the house before sunrise at any season growing up for school with a start time of between 8 and 9 for various schools.

And most everything resets itself to the correct time today, so even that's not an issue. My alarm clock, weather station, PCs of course, phones, tablets... I think just the coffee maker and stove need to be done manually, and an old windup clock that chimes.

It would seem incredibly weird and off to me to not have the time changes.

I found both of shifts a challenge when I had to be at 8 am. I would simply forget the first couple of days and wake by habit - or fail to wake.
Now, I just don't care what the clock says.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

I don't know. I like having daylight after work. I love being able to watch the sunrise like this morning. So I guess I will not like when the clock changes and I'll lose those things next week. Will we stay on permanenr " winter" clock times? So I would not have the long summer evenings til almost 9 pm? None of that changes the sun and moon..
Plant it and they will come.

Regardless of the time change, I dislike low winter sun. On bright days, the sun is in my eyes on the second tee. It's a tight fairway so it's hard to follow the track of your ball when you tee-off.

Lots of clocks to change.
Watch.
Radio/alarm.
Clock in the front room.
Oven.
Boiler.
Car.
Two clocks in the summer house and garage.
Both trail/cams in the garden.
My "unsmart" mobile phone.

Messing with your golf game, oh the humanity! Smiling Low sun makes it seem later. We were going to a park yesterday to walk but I realized by 2 pm it would feel 'so late.'

Oh yes, the car clock will have to change too, thanks for the reminder, Riley! I usually forget that one and drive around for weeks before I notice the time is wacked. Hilarious!

Ginger, you're juuuuuust over the line at the extreme W edge of east time zone. A good place to be if you prefer more daylight in the evening. I'm a little farther from the line but very close, at the E edge of central time zone. Sunset here today is officially 4:49. You can still technically see for a few mins, but it's mostly dark by then.

Ginger, am I mistaken about your time zone? I could look it up but I was having a memory, possibly a wrong one, then questioning myself.
