Sorry this may already be answered but I'm not much of a wide WWW traveler and just wondered. I avoid Facebook, for instance. No Twitter or Instagram. I'd be a WWW hermit except there's too much good information and I've found lots of friendly, interesting, helpful people here since I joined last month.

If it's too hot a subject to even answer maybe someone would send a tree mail

@pepper23 Thanks! So our Dave doesn't run that one anymore but it's still called Dave's Garden. And people are unhappy with the changes there. Too bad he can't take his name off it!!

Lots of Daves, I dont think anyone associates him with that site as it is now. Its been so long, but t seems like whomever bought it was going to let him still run it and he help them out and they didnt hold up there end of the deal. I might remember that ll wrong. But thats when he started cubits and then here. All I know is I lost my qulting group That was a bummer. I forgot it was still going, altho I just checked it out and cant even navigate around and find things Guess they really changed it up.

I can imagine it's sad to lose an established group of online friends like that 😢

There must be lots of quilting forums on the web? But of course there's nothing like old friends. Especially when online, we value ones who've proved trustworthy.

Sometimes people just run a site to make money and the social value takes a backseat. I think Facebook used to be better, but now that it's so powerful it squeezes the social content to make more room for ads. It's really hard to have meaningful conversations because of the way threads are collapsed and parts hidden. I don't even go there except as absolutely necessary to read family posts.

In contrast, this site is truly supportive of personal interactions!👍🏻 I love it here!

Well luckily Dave set us up at cubits, not so luckily, I never got the hang of that. I did just get a round robin quilt sent off four years late, so people still keep in touch.

I found cubits navigation somewhat confusing. Is there any activity there at sll any more???

Yes, there are several very active Cubits.

I keep a garden journal at cubits the iris and dahlia cubits are active and have wonderful photos
and if you like games there is a word association and puzzles

Since you brought up dg this past week I went looking for my garden journals. Couldn't find them. Then I found a thread that they had shut down the journals unless you notified them by a certain date, which is long gone. A blast email to all members would have been appropriate but all they did was make a thread. Sooooo all my old computers that had pictures etc have died.

My thinking was they would always be accessible at Dave's garden. And don't they say internet postings are forever.

Anyway, my inquiries over there have been ignored.☹

Seems no one is manning it anymore.

I kept my subscription for the "Coffee and.............." thread.

Makes me so sad...used to be such a good site!

It changed too much, they fought among themselves and the halls of dg are echoing silently with friends long gone...
