Rainy day, new seedlings - this one is from my point of view remarkable:

Hemerocallis fulva var. littorea (coastal daylily) x Black Cherry Type VT (Olallie, not registered) - FFO:
Thumb of 2021-08-02/Nightlily/3f5357
scape height 45", bloom diameter 5.5", at least 25-30 buds, candelabra branching

I don't know any other cultivar with a similar star-shaped throat - I think I like the green center and the light 'splashes' at the petals.

This one wasn't crossed for late flowering - but it flowers later and longer than its siblings:
Open My Eyes x Undefinable

Finally getting around to sorting the folders from the last few days of July. I don't have parentage on "sdlg" yet, I need to go through the notes and add it to my images.
A group of Sculpted cristate seedlings showing a variety in the shape and placement on the tepals that can be seen. Most all of these are still blooming, several just started.

This red diploid clump has been putting on a show with multiple pleated and cristate blooms daily.

Hard to believe it's August already! Sad Daylily season is winding down. Here's what's blooming now:

I showed this one previously but each bloom is super green and huge! (7 inch bloom). I don't know where it gets it's height from (42" tall) but it's much taller than both parents. 'Forsyth Summer Snow' x 'Green Icon'

Thumb of 2021-08-03/celestialrose/4c4de8

In contrast, this is a little one. Blooms are only about 3 1/2 inches. 28 inches tall. 'George Jets On' x 'Cindy's Lace'
It's cute but I'll probably give it away. Has a lot of buds for a one year old seedling.

Here are a couple of seedlings I moved over to my regular beds because they are good at blooming well into August. Par for the course, the first one looks amazing but didn't like the move and is blooming sparse. While the other one that looks nice, but not wowza nice, gives three to eight blooms every day.

Time is Nigh x Mascara Snake

Sue, RR Red VT (Olallie, not registered) x Suzy Cream Cheese - what a beauty! A bud count of 15-20 would be totally acceptable for me. Some of mine only get 8-10!

Tim, I just love that dusky pink color on your Time is Nigh x Mascara Snake seedling.

Ed, C-51 looks great.

Joyce, nice pinched petals on that second picture of Toothtalk x Heavenly New Frontiers!

It's one of two siblings - the other one I like a little bit better, but both need to be improved. At the moment I keep this seedling and cross it with other very lates with higher budcount. The best I have at the moment have 20-35 buds.

Here is a pic from the other one:

Sue, I really like the variety of color, size and form in your late sdlgs.

Tim, the first Mascara Snake kid is so pretty! I always liked MS except for it's weak scapes. Now if you or someone could come up with a look alike, blooming about the same time and with the size of MS, with stronger scapes....that would be cool!

Way to many gorgeous purples and lavenders to pick a favorite, all Thumbs up

Interesting look and cross on the double Joyce.

I was working on it for a while, Char. Those two seedlings do ok because they have more traditional blooms (size and shape). They don't seem to lean.

I think we can get where you want to go using Time is Nigh or Fred's Red for the pod. Both have much sturdier scapes. I did get this one from Fred's Red x Mascara Snake, but it has the same issues with skinny scapes, and it doesn't bloom late enough for me like Fred's Red and my seedlings.

Thumb of 2021-08-05/Lyshack/19cca8

If this one has any blooms, yet, I might try to cross this with the top seedling.

Fred's Red is always a leaner in my garden:
Thumb of 2021-08-05/Nightlily/e2fb9f

I've several blooming seedlings out of different crosses with this cultivar - the only one that hat the same bud count as Fred's red is flowering earlier (a little less leaning). At the moment Fred's Red is still flowering - but all of its kids have finished. For this reason I don't use Fred's Red anymore for hybridizing of late seedlings.

Nice ones everyone.

Both of these have really tall scapes with great branching, fertile both ways.
