We are nearing the end of August and although most seedlings are done blooming there are still a few blooms to see.

I am delighted with the beautiful color and ruffles on this one:
'Spacecoast Francis Busby' x 'Kitty Bannerman'

Thumb of 2021-08-23/celestialrose/a321ce

And the color and form has improved on 'Violet Shadows' x 'Cobraskin Necktie' and I love the white edge:

Thumb of 2021-08-24/celestialrose/d6761b

The 'Alice Baier' x 'Money Maker' seedling started late and still has plenty of buds to go:

Thumb of 2021-08-24/celestialrose/3787c5

Same for the 'Simplicity in Motion' x 'Orchid Corsage' seedling....keeps going & going:

Thumb of 2021-08-24/celestialrose/977e3e

This seedling was from seeds from John Kulpa of which only the pod parent is known. Out of 'Matthew Leitch'. I am hoping the color isn't so blotchy next year and the teeth get bigger. Being that I am in central New Hampshire on a mountain where it's cool, perhaps it needs more heat to bring them out?

Truthfully this is a strange seedling that I have marked to 'cull'. But I wasn't sure if maybe I should wait because it seems to be a bud-builder with great bud count, good increase, and put up multiple fans as a 2 yr. old seedling. Also, it seems to have a hint of teeth and blooms late. Blooms are about 6 1/2 inches. Not crazy about it but it's quite robust. Cull or not?? Also from 'Matthew Leitch' from John Kulpa seeds so the genetics are there.

Most of the culling is done (just one bed left) and now only the very late seedlings are still flowering. We have cool nights and cool days now - summer has left, autumn is arriving. The colors in the seedlings garden are now deeper and more intense - some look better than ever:

Davidson Update x Jazzy Nights - still buds for a week to go
Thumb of 2021-08-24/Nightlily/0fa4f9

Ruffled Strawberry Parfait x Venus Flytrap - now at peak

RR Red VT (Olallie, not registered) x Running Late - big ruffled flowers
Thumb of 2021-08-24/Nightlily/a241c0

My latest flowering cultivar has not started yet - this seedling out of it showed an interesting first flower today:
Fall Pink Melon VT (Olallie, not registered) x Seedling/lost tag - very late red spider
Thumb of 2021-08-24/Nightlily/0c0b3d
8" diameter, eyed flowers - nothing comparable flowering at this time of the season available here in Europe

This one is a new very late one too - gets better now every day:
Seedling/lost tag - very late fuchsia color x Fall Pink Melon VT (Olallie, not registered)
Thumb of 2021-08-24/Nightlily/3a7107 - perfect bagel-form, small flowers

So many nice later blooming seedlings! I tip my hat to you.
Not much in the sdlg beds blooming now and I've started getting tagged keepers moved to the keep beds. Slow easy job for this miserable hot and wicked humid weather. Spent the day inside yesterday due to clouds from Henri. thick swarms of skeeters with no sun, and sorted a few more image folders.

Found these August Sculpted relief form seedlings....

Blinking some crazy relief on this kid! Not sure if it will ever open properly but those super wide sepals will sure be a nice addition to work with. There is so much thickening in the throat area on relief forms that it can cause issues with sepals opening to soon, tips or sides of the buds, allowing bugs and moisture inside damaging the tepals.
Thumb of 2021-08-24/Char/6ae1cb

Thought I had tagged the last keeper from the bed to be cleaned out next month until I saw this late blooming sdlg when it opened 2 days ago. Nice color, big watermark and a super nice 4 way branched scape.

Another 2020 seedling sent up a rebloom scape. It is a trooper in this heat, along with the lack of rain.

At the moment it is quite cold here in our part of the planet - only 50°F at night and 65°F max with overcast sky or rain showers. Not really daylily weather - rather suitable for Halloween?

Your blooms are looking very beautiful, Sue. I particularly like the first and second last. Your weather is opposite to what it is here, Sue. It has been very hot and dry for the last two weeks. Today we are at 32 C, or 90 F, with mainly sunny skies. Last night the low was 21 C or 70 F. Our normal daytime highs at this time of year average 23 C or 73 F. We need rain, and the daylilies show it. It is supposed to cool off tomorrow, and I will do some watering.

I had three valiant seedlings blooming today. All on rebloom scapes. These pictures were taken mid-afternoon on this hot, sunny day.
